Modelling in Nigeria: 2015 in View

In a bid to strengthen the industry this 2015, the current executives of the modelling agencies association of Nigeria (MAAN) has seen the need to encourage models to be under a management or an agency; this will strengthen the industry and bring better diginity to both models and their managers alike as project will be seen to have been handled more professionally and with greater integrity. At same time, the need for coherence amongst the various agencies and modelling managers within the country has been emphasized, with the understanding, “together more is achieved”.

Players in the industry have been encouraged to support projects and programmes that will boost the industry as a whole. Managers are encouraged to support models in fashion shows as well as other events that will establish the models better in the industry such as pageantries and other event.

Already lined up to further enlighten all is the MAAN Convention coming up early in in the month of April. Arrangements are being finalised by the association executives to be hosted in the Niger-Delta region or Eastern Region of Nigeria. This will be communicated to all in due course. The Seminars as well as workshops are also expected to hold at various times in the year.

On the part of the Modelling Agencies Association of Nigeria, arrangements are being made to give models comprehensive insurance cover against general risk as well as on the job risk and also entitling them to healthcare and medicals practically free. Talks are currently ongoing with 3 insurance Firms, AIICO, Mansard and Leadway.

This year is expected to be a formidable year for all stakeholders in the industry.
